The Brit Awards 2014
Toasting musical icons
It was all about glamour, mesmerising performances and celebrating the who's who of the music world at London's O2 Arena last night, where celebrities and VIPs gathered to attend the Brit Awards 2014.
Before the night got underway, celebrities arrived early at the venue and took the opportunity to pose on the red carpet and sign autographs for eager fans.
The prestigious event, which is Britain's equivalent of the Grammy Awards, offered attendees a jam-packed show, with performances from stars such as the Arctic Monkeys – who opened the show and turned out to be the biggest winners of the night, with two awards for 'British Group' and 'British Album of The Year'.
Ellie Goulding, who arrived wearing a pink princess frock with pockets, performed Burn during the show, and later changed into a glamorous golden gown to accept her award for 'British Female Solo Artist'. David Bowie, who scooped 'Best British Male Solo Artist', firmly confirmed his musical comeback – however he was absent from the show itself, sending Kate Moss to collect the prize on his behalf, and the iconic model wore a vintage Ziggy Stardust stage costume to do so.
Actor James Cordon, who presented the show, added an element of surprise to the evening thanks to his humour. American stars including Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Bruno Mars all performed and offered a touch of American flavour to Britain's music event of the year.
