Ben Howard debuts new song 'Conrad'
The first track to debut from the new record was 'End of the Affair' – which is a whopping 7 minutes long. Perhaps a little punchy for the first new material after a year hiatus? But as Howard said in a recent interview, "The nice thing about the success of the first record meant we had the freedom to do anything."
'Small Thing' and then the album's nameshare single 'I Forget Where We Were' have since followed, and for Howard's second album, the Devonshire Brit Award-winner is relying less on acoustic guitars and folk themes, and exploring a rather new "grand" sound.
"It's grand," said Howard to the BBC. "I think this record was about seeing how widescreen we could go. Definitely grand is a word I'd use, I think the interesting thing is that there's not a whole lot of instrumentation, it's mostly a guitar record really, experimenting with tones."
Last night Howard debuted the third track, 'Conrad' on Zane Lowe's Radio One show.
