The Strokes, Bon Iver and Arcade Fire unite to form supergroup
Pop Vs. Jock Game
Starring Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, Arcade Fire's Win and Will Butler – who organised the charity event – and Régine Chassagne and the Strokes' Nikolai Fraiture, the group took over the court at half-time to perform a cover of Phil Collins In The Air Tonight and the White Stripes' Seven Nation Army.
The musicians also played a game of basketball alongside NBA 'Slam Dunk Contest' champion Brent Barry and captain Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs – forming 'Team Pop'. They were up against 'Team Jock', which featured past and present college players from the McGill and Concordia basketball teams. Team Pop won the game 101-92.
The money raised during the Pop Vs. Jock event will go to DJ Sports Club, a Montreal non-profit that offers programs in sports and education to local youth.
