Pharrell Williams is honoured with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame
Because he's happy!
As previously reported on Buro 24/7 in June earlier this year, Pharrell Williams was announced in the summer as one of the celebrities to be honoured with the five-point recognition this year. Williams was among the 30-strong list of 2014 honourees, which also included Will Ferrell and Jennifer Garner.
The Happy singer, who was recently in the UAE capital for the Formula 1 and is scheduled to perform in Dubai this NYE, was accompanied by his wife to receive the honour, with a speech given by TV's funny lady Ellen DeGeneres.
The accomplished Williams first found fame as part of the record-producing duo The Neptunes, he later headed up N.E.R.D with The Neptune's Chad Hugo and his childhood friend Shay Haley. In 2003, Williams debuted his first solo single Frontin, which was followed up with In My Mind – his first solo album in 2006. Over the years, Williams has gone from being recognised as "little skateboard P" to becoming a fully-fledged cultural icon.
The unstoppable polymath has earned 7 Grammy Awards, owns a media venture that encompasses entertainment, music, fashion, and art called i am OTHER, a multi-media creative collective and record label that serves as an umbrella for all of Pharrell Williams' endeavors, including Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream apparel, Billionaire Girls Club, textile company Bionic Yarn and a dedicated YouTube channel that launched in 2012. The channel was launched on May 12, 2012 as part of YouTube's $100 million original channel initiative.
The 41-year-old also recently starred alongside Cara Delevingne for Karl Lagerfeld's new Chanel film, Reincarnation.
