Taschen's $5000 book on The Rolling Stones with Annie Leibovitz and Bill Clinton
"A rock and roller coaster" – Keith Richards
Luxury book publishers Taschen are tapping into the hardcore fan base of one of Britain's most iconic rock bands, with the release of a limited-edition coffee table book on The Rolling Stones that took four years to compile.
Just 1,600 copies will be available with the numbers one to 450 signed by all four band members, and among the names who contributed to the making of it are, perhaps surprisingly, former President Bill Clinton, who wrote the forward, plus famed fashion photographers Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton, and over 60 others who had personal interaction with the rock and rollers.
Keith Richards has said, "This book isn't just rock n' roll, it's a roller coaster through 50 years of memory lane." And perhaps unsurprisingly, its price tag matches the memories. Unsigned collector's editions will sell for $5,000 and art editions will go for $10,000 with an accompanying poster. The basic version will cost just $97, and be available from December.
