Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt attend the 'Unbroken' world premiere in Sydney
A story of survival
Based on a best-selling book by Laura Hillenbrand, Unbroken tells the story of Olympic sprinter Louis Zamperini, who spent over a month on a life raft after his plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean during World War II, before being held for two years by Japanese soliders.
"I think as a human being, as a mother, as someone who works internationally, I needed desperately to know a man like Louis Zamperini in my life, to know that there is hope," director Angelina Jolie said, describing how the film helped her also tackle motherhood.
Thankfully, Jolie was able to show Zamperini an early cut of the film, which was shot entirely in Australia, before his death in July, aged 97. "The strength of a strong heart and an indomitable will is valuable and it's worth something," she said.
The talented 39-year-old was joined on the red carpet by husband Brad Pitt, where she stopped to chat to fans and take selfies, plus actor Jack O'Connell, who plays Zamperini in the film, as well as a host of other Australian stars and colleagues...
