The Moscow City Ballet in Dubai
Staging 'Cinderella' to Serge Prokofiev
The Moscow City Ballet is back in the region, after its sold out performances last year of another classic, Sleeping Beauty. This time, with an array of striking and detailed costumes and set designs with accompanying music composed by Serge Prokofiev, Cinderella is set to show audiences a night to remember – a tale of triumph and true love.
Founded by the former Bolshoi Ballet soloist and choreographer Victor Smirnov-Golovanov, The Moscow City Ballet is considered to be Russia's most successful touring company.
The first ever performance of the Moscow City Ballet was The Crown of Russian Ballet and took place in August 2002, founded by Anatoly Emelianov and Anna Aleksidze. Another performace, entitled Cross Winds was then seen by Moscow's chic high society. Among whom were cultural figures such as Mikhail Lavrosky (a famous USSR and Russian choreographer and ballet master), Andrey Voznesensky (Russian poet, novelist, painter and architect), Iosif Rayhelgauz (artistic director of Theatre 'School of Modern Drama'), Eleonora Vlasova (famous ex-prima ballerina of Moscow Music Theatre, Olga Lepeshinskaya (Soviet Union ballerina and teacher).
Moscow's press soon made a fuss of the first historic presentation, making sure the dance institution remained a successful export to this day.
There will be two shows of Cinderella playing at the Madinat Theatre, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, at 4.30pm and 8pm respectivley on November 14, 15 and 16. Tickets are priced from Dhs250 – Dhs350.
