The Netflix shows to binge-watch this month

So many choices
Netflix has revealed the new shows joining its ranks this month and we're in for a stellar month of viewing. Here's what you need to see...

With the cooler weather upon us, there’s no better time for a day curled up on the couch watching TV. Netflix has just annoucned its January line-up and there are plenty of options to keep us hitting the ‘next episode’ button. Here are the shows to binge-watch this month…

1. Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards

It’s a big month for fashion docos on Netflix and one we can’t wait to see is Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards. The in-depth documentary looks at Manolo Blahnik‘s career trajectory following his fateful meeting with Diana Vreeland who told him to focus on footwear. Packed with appearances from some of fashion’s biggest names, including Anna Wintour, Naomi Campbell and Karlie Kloss, as well as Rihanna and Sofia Coppola, it’s a celebratory look into his creative genius. 

Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards airs on January 15, 2018. 

2. Friends

In news that was music to our ears here at Buro HQ, this month all 10 seasons of the beloved American sit-com Friends are now available to watch on the platform. With so many now-classic one-liners (PIVOT!), there’s worse ways to spend a day than with this lot.

3. Maddman: The Steve Madden Story 

One for the shoe-lovers among you, Maddman: The Steve Madden Story tells the story of American accessories designer Steve Madden. A rags to riches tale, it explores his rise from selling his designs out of the back of his car to running a billion dirham empire before being jailed for his dealings with The Wolf of Wall Street Jordan Belfort. The documentary also looks at how Madden rebuilt his company and his name following his release to remain one of the most well-known accessories designer across the world.

4. He Named Me Malala

The 2015 documentary on Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai is a powerful watch. The film explores Malala’s story in the lead-up to her being shot for advocating for women’s education, her recovery and her continued campaigning. One of the most inspiring women of her generation, if you haven’t seen it yet, you should.

5. House of Z 

Last but not least, House of Z is a must-watch for any fashion lover this month. The film looks at Zac Posen‘s meteoric rise to fame and his even bigger fall from grace and gives viewers a glimpse inside the designer’s professional and personal life as he orchestrates his comeback. It’s a fascinating look at the inner workings of one of America’s biggest fashion houses.
