Saudi Arabia's growing film industry gets a boost after its biggest movie this year is submitted for an Oscar award.

KSA's biggest film offering of the year, Barakah Meets Barakah, has been submitted as a nominee for the 2017 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. This marks the Kingdom's second Oscar submission after 2013's Wadjda.

Directed by Mahmoud Sabbagh, Barakah Meets Barakah premiered at this year's Berlin International Film Festival where it earned the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. Saudi's first ever romantic comedy follows the adventures of a municipal employee who falls in love with the adopted daughter of a wealthy family. Together they try to navigate a love story around the largely restrictive social norms. The film will next make an appearance at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.

Meanwhile, listen to Emma Stone sing an original song in the trailer for La La Land.
