Roald Dahl's 'The Twits' to be adapted for the stage

At the Royal Court Theatre, London

Roald Dahl’s 1980s classic ‘The Twits’ is taking the stage as writer Edna Walsh prepares to premiere her adaption of the story in London

The play is set to debut on April 7 2015, and will follow the path of other acclaimed Dahl-inspired stage adaptations including Matilda and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, which are already being shown in London's West End.

The story revolves around a despicable couple, Mr. and Mrs. Twit, and their abuse towards their pets and other animals, with a specific chapter referring to a family of monkeys that were trapped in a cage and forced to stand on their heads.

The book begins with the line "What a lot of hairy-faced men there are around nowadays!" which is a reference to the author's dislike for beards, which apparently was the inspiration behind the story.
