Short films judged by panelists from the UK, Ireland, France, Norway and Venezuela plus exhibitions, experimental productions by young directors and lectures about the history of Moscow’s cinema…

The seventh Moscow Short Film Festival is underway, with its sub-event The Debut Movie Festival already enjoyed by film fans.

Gaining much popularity among young filmmakers in the city, the unique contest involves the students and film school graduate submissions from the capital, with the winners making up a program of 17 interesting featurettes across the genres of documentaries, feature films and animation.

Besides these initial film screenings, the overall festival is scheduling an artistic program of exhibitions, performances, experimental performances by young authors. The educational program includes a lecture on the ancient architecture of Moscow cinema, and the emergence of the moving image in the capital, via Soviet-era cartoons.
