Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and more to star in all-female Ghostbusters remake
Who you gonna call?
Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has enlisted comedy heroines, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, for the cast of his new Ghostbusters, all-female remake, which is said to start shooting this summer. The actresses have proven to be a winning on-screen team, and will be joined by Saturday Night Live cast members Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, who also have a proven on-screen track record.
Sony Pictures' attempt to reboot the 1980's classic initially involved director, Ivan Reitman, but when attempts to assemble the original cast failed, Reitman bowed out of the developments. The appointment of Feig injected new life into the project as he reimagined the concept as an all star female line up, because when you need to direct a cast of all star female actresses, who are are you gonna call?
Hollywood executives are beside themselves trying to assemble female driven stories, as figures from last year's hit movies reveal the box-office power of the female audience. Marvel is scrambling to produce a Black Widow spin off and studios all over town are looking for female superhero stories.
We are excited to see what this quartet of outrageously talented and hilarious women will cook up in the Ghostbusters remake. We have high hopes.
