There's an exciting time ahead for DC Comic book fans, as 'Batman' star Joseph Gordon-Levitt speaks out about upcoming project, 'Sandman: Overture'

According to the actor and writer, Sandman is still in the early stages of development, and he will direct and produce the film from a script by David S. Goyer, based on Neil Gaiman's acclaimed comic book series.

"Right now we're working on a script," he said. "It's me and Goyer and the screenwriter and Neil Gaiman, as well as the good folks at DC and Warner Bros. It's a really cool team of people. It's a lot of the same people who worked on the Nolan Batman movies."

Gordon-Levitt also said that Sandman is a more "complicated adaptation" because it consists of 75 episodic issues. "There's a reason people have been trying and failing to adapt 'Sandman' for the past 20 years," he said, continuing that the writing team is conceptualising the Sandman 'universe' as a whole.
