Warner Brothers have announced that the Harry Potter spin-off novel 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' will be made into a film trilogy

Based on her novel, J.K. Rowling will make her screenwriting debut with the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trilogy, which Warner Brothers will release in 2016, 2018 and 2020.

Warner Bros CEO Tsujihara has referred to them as being "three megamovies". Rowling recently made headlines after a series of cryptic tweets, which are now explained: she was referring to this exciting new trilogy project.

The Fantastic Beasts story is set in NYC, and staged seventy years before the adventures of Harry Potter. The tale follows Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – which many years later becomes one of Harry's schoolbooks at Hogwarts.

The first film in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trilogy will be released in cinemas worldwide November 18 2016.
