Spot on casting
The Crown already features some of our favourite actors and now, British Egyptian actor Amir El-Masry is going to play Mohamed Al-Fayed...

The fifth season of the critically acclaimed Netflix series “The Crown will see up-and-coming British Egyptian actor Amir El-Masry fill the role of Mohamed Al-Fayed, the former Harrods owner and father of Princess Diana’s lover Dodi.

So far, El-Masry has made a name for himself in 2016 after getting internationally recognised for his small standout role as a hotel chef opposite Tom Hiddleston in Susanne Bier-directed mini-series “The Night Manager.” He also won a BAFTA Scotland award for his role as a Syrian asylum-seeker living on a small Scottish island in Ben Sharrock’s drama “Limbo” and now, is naturally “honoured and beyond grateful” to be playing the younger version of Al-Fayed.

El-Masry took to Instagram to share the exciting news with his followers. “Feeling honoured and beyond grateful to ‘The Crown’ team for having me onboard season 5 of the series,” wrote the rising star.

He joins the cast including Imelda Staunton, Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville, Jonny Lee Miller and more.
