Over the weekend, Saudi Arabia's Oscar contender has just been announced and of course, Haifaa Al Mansour's The Perfect Candidate has been selected for the international feature film Oscar.
The movie was nominated at the 76th International Venice Film Festival and now, will be the first Oscar submission from Saudi Arabia after the longstanding ban on cinema was lifted in 2017.
The selection was made by the Saudi Academy Awards Committee and the film highlights female empowerment and individualism. The Perfect Candidate stars Mila Al Zahrani, Nora Al Awardh and Dea Al Hilali.
