Film focus: DIFF 2016 adds 13 new international films
La La Land, Voyage of Time, Ember
With just over six weeks before this year's Dubai International Film Festival begins, 13 new films have been added to its 'Cinema of the World' programme. From Turkey to India and Sweden to South Korea, the new list of must-watch films offers a vast genre base including drama, musical and even a mockumentary.
"The Cinema of The World category boasts such a broad range of work from different cultures, and allows us the opportunity to give audiences a film experience they may not otherwise have access to," said Cinema of The World Director, Nashen Moodley. "Seeing people enjoy something new and different through the magic of cinema is one of the most rewarding things about DIFF."
One of the highlights to the Cinema of the World category is La La Land starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, who lends her vocal chords to an original song on the soundtrack.
Rounding off the list of 13 films are King of the Belgians, Voyage of Time, Ember, The Distinguished Citizen, Saint George, The Cinema Travellers, I, Daniel Blake, Lady Macbeth, Hissein Habré, A Chadian Tragedy, Sami Blood, The Duelist and The Net.
The Dubai International Film Festival will run from December 7-14. For more information, visit dubaifilmfest.com. Also, read about Leonardo DiCaprio's new film project with Mick Jagger.
