David Oyelowo is the first ever black Bond – for the audio book. Which is progress at least. Know what we know here...

In a week where Beyonce broke records becoming the first black female artist to cover the September issue of Vogue, David Oyelowo is revealed as the first ever black Bond...

Oyelowo will not front a blockbuster Bond movie, but will voice the Trigger Mortis, a new officially commissioned Bond book written by Anthony Horowitz. Like most audio book voices, Oyelowo will most likely voice all of the characters and not only Bond, however, he told The Guardian, “I am officially the only person on planet Earth who can legitimately say: ‘I am the new James Bond’ – even saying that name is the cinematic equivalent of doing the ‘to be or not to be’ speech.”

Meanwhile, the rumours continue to circulate that Iris Elba will be revealed as the first ever on-screen black Bond. Stay tuned for more news on this story and the movie world on Buro 24/7 Middle East...
