Chinese actress Li Bingbing is taking Hollywood by storm as she stars in the latest Michael Bay sequel, 'Transformers: Age of Extinction', which grossed $100 million in its opening weekend

The film star – who considers Matthew McConaughey, Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep among her favourites – has been featured in over 20 movies in her native China. Over the past few years, she took the leap over to western films with her role in Resident Evil: Retribution and eventually her lead role as Su Yueming in Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Bingbing chose her latest acting role based on the fact that it gives insight into Chinese culture as well as connecting Chinese audiences to American cinema. She also said that she chooses characters based on their similarities to her own qualities, and while talking about her choice to play Su Yueming, she said, "She is so smart. She is a ceo. She is capable and a cutting-edge scientist, educated, sexy, beautiful and in shape. Stanley [Tucci] plays my boss, but I treat him like I am the boss."

The starlet equally has an appreciation for fashion; she is the face of Gucci in China, and presented a unique edition of Gucci's bamboo collection. She also admires the works of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang and George Chakra, which she's worn on many red carpet occasions. For the Transformers premiere in New York, she opted to wear a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture ensemble made up of a yellow bra top with a peplum skirt.

Contrarily, she describes her personal style to be more casual and comfortable than dressy on her off days, and says that her ideal outfit consists of black and white pieces.
