Chanel hosts ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival private dinner
Taking Tribeca uptown
Last night Chanel hosted its ninth annual Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner, but broke with tradition and moved a little further uptown out of the festival's main remit of Tribeca to Balthazar in super-cool SoHo. A slightly more accommodating venue for this year's extensive guest list.
Braving the April showers, festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal said: "We have the people I admire most here," looking out across the illustrious room of guests which included; filmmakers, actors and artists such as Ron Howard and David O. Russell, Robert De Niro (a fellow co-founder of the festival), Julianne Moore, Sophia Loren and Greta Gerwig, Walton Ford and Tom Sachs. Being that is was a Chanel event, the fashion pack was also amply represented.
Most of the stars opted for a Chanel wardrobe, with plenty of looks straight from the runway as well as some favourite designs from previous collections. Not just supplying the wardrobe, Chanel also supplied the art works, which serve as prizes to the festival winners. Guests mused over the art book catalogues over dinner, which this year celebrates James Nares, Alexis Rockman and Clifford Ross, who are featured prize contributors.
