The Cannes Film Festival: 'Le Meraviglie' premiere
An Italian drama rolls into Cannes
Yesterday on the red carpet, in front of the the Palais des Festivals, stood some of the members of the prestigious jury for the Cannes Film Festival, headed by chairman Jane Champion. Leila Hatami, Carole Bouquet, Jeon Yong-Up, and an always stylish Sofia Coppola, stood alongside Champion before they went to decide the fate of one of the major contenders at the film festival, Le Meraviglie.
The sweet-natured coming of age drama was the second directorial work of Alice Rohrwacher and the only film in the festival hailing from Italy. The cast includes Sam Louwyck, Alba Rohrwacher (the director's sisters) and Monica Bellucci.
