
Cannes 2015: Day 5 in pictures

The fifth day of the Cannes Film Festival has brought with it the festival's tipped-to-be favourite film – Carol by director Todd Haynes. The film stars Cate Blanchette as a housewife who falls for an innocent department store worker, played by Rooney Mara, in 50s New York. The film, which is an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel The Price of Salt, moved the audience, critics and all, to tears.
There was a forum on gender equality where a host of influential names, from politics and film, discussed institutional sexism in Hollywood and the film industry. Salma Hayek spoke about how she feels that "cinema undermines women's intelligence." And a lively debate took place, as the topic of the festival continued to dominate the agenda.
