Giorgio Armani has designed the eighties-inspired looks for Jessica Chastain in the highly acclaimed film 'A Most Violent Year'

Armani has collaborated with costume designer Kasia Walicka-Maimone to design a range of custom eighties-inspired looks for Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain in A Most Violent Year.  The film, which is due for release December 31 in America will be screened at this year's Dubai International Film Festival

The bespoke designs include a wrap trench coat cinched at the waist with a bold graphic belt, a chic sheath dresses and an evening look comprising a strapless gown paired with a bead-encrusted jacket. The film also features some original Armani outfits from the eighties.

The crime thriller, directed by J.C. Chandor, is set in the winter of 1981, in New York, which was statistically the most violent year in the city’s history. Chastain plays the wife of Abel Morales (played by Oscar Isaac) a Colombian immigrant who runs a fuel company, struggling with the culture of corruption that was widespread during this period.

“This wonderful film project had great appeal to me because it is set in a time frame when women’s clothing was being revolutionized. Minimalism was a shocking new concept… Jessica Chastain is a very charming woman and I find that she always wears my clothes perfectly, with great, nonchalant ease.” Armani said of the “high honour” of working on the film.

Chastain regularly chooses Armani for her red carpet appearances including last year's Academy Awards.
