Ali Mostafa's new film to open Abu Dhabi Film Festival
The debut of the Emirati director's second picture
Marking the first time the ADFF opened with a locally produced film, Emirati director Ali Mostafa's From A to B is set to make its debut onto the big screen next month. The new film is the long-awaited to Mostafa's successful 2009 blockbuster City of Life. Disney's animated film Big Hero 6 will also be involved in the ADFF, and will close the festival on Novemeber 1.
From A to B tells the story of three Western-educated Arab youths who travel 1,500 miles from Abu Dhabi to Beirut to honour the memory of their deceased best friend.
Ali Al Jabri, director of ADFF, said, "We are delighted to feature a locally produced film as opening title of this year's festival. The success of high-calibre Arab filmmakers like Ali Mostafa is a testament to the vibrancy of filmmaking in the region."
Ali Mostafa also expressed his joy on the new achievement, "It is an honour to have my film From A to B selected as the opening night screening of this year's Abu Dhabi Film Festival. It is a privilege to celebrate the World Premiere in our capital city and I am proud to have the first Emirati film to ever open the festival."
