Luxury watchmaker IWC celebrated the fine art of filmmaking at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The fourth annual "For the Love of Cinema" gala dinner saw a gathering of the brand ambassadors, celebrities and filmmakers including Dev Patel, Karolina Kurkova, Scott Eastwood, Katie Holmes, Michael Rappaport and Kate Mara. Also in attendance were festival founders Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff.
The night saw the presentation of the IWC Filmmaker Award to Matt Ruskin, writer and director of Untitled Colin Warner Project. The award came with a trophy, a Dhs184,000 film grant as well as an IWC timepiece.
Before the dinner, IWC had unveiled a special timepiece: the Portugieser Annual Calendar Edition "Tribeca Film Festival 2016". As homage to the brand's American founder F.A. Jones, the watch features an American date order whereby it shows the month, date and day in three windows at the top of the dial. Meanwhile, the slate-coloured dial is a nod to the streets of New York and the red sub-dials signify the red carpet, all in reference to the Tribeca Film Festival.
