Break cultural boundaries at East-East: UAE Meets Japan
Featuring the works of four exciting Emirati artists – Khalid Mezaina, Al Anood Al Obaidly, Amna Al Maamari, Ahmed Al Anzi – this new exhibition throws the spotlight on the mixing influences between the UAE and Japan, reflected through works that combine both Emirati and Japanese design and artistic elements. "I wanted to break the overused 'East-West' terminology by turning it on its head," said curator, Sophie Mayuko Arni. "Why always look to the West, when we can look Eastwards? I hope for East-East to be a great experiment for a new model of global contemporary art making and exhibition practices."
East-East: UAE Meets Japan will run until October 31 at The Project Space, NYU Abu Dhabi.
