After 83 years since its inception, Times New Roman is being celebrated and criticised all at once by a selection of key typographers in England...

Almost 100 years on from its original creation, The Times newspapaer in England has released a short video about its world famous typeface, Times New Roman, which has now become one of the most recognised fonts, ever.

  • The three-and-a-half minute video includes soundbites from a number of graphic designer, printers, creative art directors and typesetters, all of whom give their individual thoughts and opinions about the font that was once so classic, now becoming, "cool again". A particularly interesting moment is the font being called, "a gentleman" and the fact that, "whether you like it or not, it is not to be ignored" – and we couldn't agree more.
