Book of the week: Gustav Klimt. Complete Paintings.
Master Viennese artist
Taschen is set to launch an art book that explores the artistry of Gustav Klimt, a pioneer of the Viennese Secessionist movement. Aptly titled Gustav Klimt. Complete Paintings., the book was first released as a tome in 2012 while this fresh updated version, to mark the 100th anniversary of his death, offers a more coffee table-friendly size. Nevertheless, the content still features Klimt's complete repertoire, from landscape paintings to the monumental work he did on the ceiling of the Great Hall of the University of Vienna. Also in the spotlight are a host of his most famous works such as "The Woman in Gold" and "The Tree of Life" and within that wide gamut, readers will discover various influences that guided his paintbrush, most notably the Japanese culture as well as the Byzantine era.
