Founded by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the SIKKA Art Fair is an annual initiative to support and showcase Emirati and Dubai-based talent. Since its establishment in 2011, SIKKA has provided a platform for a wide variety of industry talents, covering the areas of performing arts, film and music.

Artists-in-residence (A.i.R) Dubai Open Studio Tour

A.i.R Dubai is set to host a tour with its residents including Maryam Al Qassimi, Sara Al Haddad, Maitha Demithan, Nadia Ayari and Sunoj D, along with curator-in-residence L. İpek Ulusoy Akgül.

Shadow Puppets Workshop

The Animation Chamber offers attendees an opportunity to learn how to create shadow puppets, as well as offer details of what it takes to perform behind a small theatre.

Light Painting

The Animation Chamber will demonstrate the art of light painting, which will enable visitors to light paint themselves so that they become part of the show.

Talk: Omar Sharif & Marwan Al Khaja

In this discussion, Omar and Marwan will cover the importance of original collectable products in both comics and action figures.

Grooves & Crackles: A Vinyl Night

This event hosted by The Magazine Shop encourages people to bring their own vinyl, and buy and swap them with others, or simply enjoy networking with like-minded people while listening to tunes that combine funk, soul and much more.

Gypsum workshop

The Architectural Heritage Society welcomes children and adults to participate making decorations using gypsum and moulds.

Ghaf Tree planting Workshop

Hosted by Goumbook, attendees will have the opportunity to learn why the Ghaf Tree is important both culturally and environmentally. During the session, participants will plant a seed for their very own Ghaf – which will be left on site during the three days of the workshop, then taken to a nursery where people can go to follow their tree's progress.

'Sounds of the City' Workshop

Led by Nazima Ahmed, this workshop will explore the relationship between sound and community through everyday life. The aim is to create dynamic, wearable sound based prints that express Dubai's identity.

Comic Book Style Drawing Workshop

During this workshop, host Rayden Kusumo will teach teach participants the art of drawing in comic book style.

The Carton Takeover

The Carton, a Lebanese food and culture publication, will be taking over The Magazine Shop for the night, highlighting regional music delights that complement their upcoming music and food issue.

The Design House Feast

To celebrate the end of Design House 2014, The Design House is set to host a feast on the rooftop, encouraging the SIKKA community, workshop participants, and visitors to meet, eat and converse.
