
'Photo Noir: The Art of photographer Cornel Lucas' at the National Theatre
Running from February 17 – March 29
Cornel Lucas was a film stills photographer, known as a pioneer of portraiture between the 1940s and 1950s, and his speciality was carefully crafted and well-lit images of celebrities. He has shot both American and British movie stars including Marlene Dietrich, David Niven, Joan Collins, Gregory Peck, Brigitte Bardot and Diana Dors.
Lucas was also the first photographer to win a BAFTA in 1998 for his services to the British Film Industry. In a new exhibition titled Photo Noir: The Art Of Cornel Lucas showcases thephotographer's beautiful imagery from throughout his career and is now being shown at the National Theatre's Lyttelton exhibition space.
