Now open: Inside the Peter Lindbergh art showcase
Fashion photographer extraordinaire
One of the Netherlands' premier art spaces, Kunsthal Rotterdam, has opened the doors to its latest art exhibition, Peter Lindbergh, A Different Vision on Fashion Photography. A visual journey of over 200 iconic works of celebrated German photographer Peter Lindbergh, the show is divided into several sections: Supermodels, Couturiers, Zeitgeist, Dance, The Darkroom, The Unknown, Silver Screen and Icons.
While he's known for his many themes, Lindbergh gained fashion prominence after he reinterpreted the classic perception of female beauty, adding strong personalities to his female subjects. "A fashion photographer should contribute to defining the image of the contemporary woman or man in their time, to reflect a certain social or human reality," said Lindbergh.
One of his most famous works came in the form of a Vogue UK photoshoot in 1990 when he brought models Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Tatjana Patitz together for the very first time.
Peter Lindbergh, A Different Vision on Fashion Photography runs from September 10 until February 12, 2017 at Kunsthal Rotterdam.
