Jeddah Art Week launches
An international spotlight on Saudi creativity
Returning for its follow up - and highly anticipated - edition, Jeddah Art Week (JAW) launched yesterday, running at Al Fursiya for six days. The initiative intends to mirror its last effort - to invigorate the local art scene in the city, and the kingdom as a country, as well as place the Saudi contemporary art scene under a global spotlight.
The line up is set to feature a rich series of events, including 12 separate exhibitions, public performances, plus an international conference discussing global visual culture.
Auction house Sotheby's will also unveil a collection of works by Middle Eastern and international artists, including Damien Hirst - who recently presented his contemporary 'Relics' reflection exhibit in Doha.
Jeddah Art Week closes on February 6.
