To mark the opening of its new gallery space, The Third Line will host its inaugural exhibition that's all about Iranian-inspired contemporary sensibility...

Opening next month The Third Line gallery, will exhibit Infinite Geometry by Iranian artist Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, which features a range of drawings, carpets, and mirror works, whilst  focusing on the artist's geometric practice.

Employing an ancient Iranian decorative technique known as aineh-kari, Farmanfarmaian's works show the interaction between the medium, light, colour and form, resulting in a cohesive yet abstract craft.

The exhibition will also showcase some of her earlier works, produced while she was in exile in New York, following the Islamic Revolution in Iran in the '90s. These works are more freehand and whimsical in nature compared to the tightly calculated geometrical compositions of her more recent offerings.

Infinite Geometry by Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian will be on from January 5-30, 2016 at The Third Line at Al Serkal Avenue.
