Guggenheim Abu Dhabi to exhibit illuminating collection
Shedding some light on culture
The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is set to host an exhibition, named Seeing Through Light: Selections from The Guggenheim Collection, opening on November 5th 2014 at Manarat Al Saadiyat and ending on the 19th of January 2015.
The exhibit will revolve around the theme of light, and will feature a variety of artworks from the 1960's to today, created by 18 internationals artists. This presentation will portray the museum's prospective vision, and will coincide with public programmes, film screenings, adult and youth workshops, and performances by leading contemporary artists who works are a fixture in the museum's permanent collection.
"Guggenheim Abu Dhabi's collection offers various perspectives and narratives on the artworks acquired thus far by the museum. The richness and flexibility of this exhibition's theme-and the collection in general-has particular relevance across cultures and time periods. More specifically, diverse meanings and associations-from the physical to the intellectual and from the spiritual to the scientific-will be explored through the artworks on display in Seeing Through Light, offering visitors insight into what they will experience when the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi opens," said Maisa Al Qassimi, Programmes Manager in the Museums Department for the Culture Sector of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.
The exhibition is a product of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi: Talking Art Series, which introduces artistic narratives, such as Popular Culture and the Mediated Image; System, Process, Concept; and History, Memory, Narrative, all of which give structure to the museum's personal collection.
