Fondation Louis Vuitton presents Daniel Buren's Observatory of Light
Kaleidoscope of colour
Renowned visual artist Daniel Buren has taken over the Fondation Louis Vuitton and injected a kaleidoscope of colour into the museum's façade. Unveiled today, the Observatory of Light project sees Buren place coloured filters onto parts of the building's 3600-piece glass exterior. The signature sails have been illuminated with 13 different filters that now create an ever-changing colourful form, depending on the time and season.
"There is a quantity of mirror effects here at the Fondation that actually don't come from mirrors but from the windows," said Buren. "Almost everywhere something is reflected through the colouring of the sails, all those reflections will become more and more present and will awake those sleeping mirrors that are everywhere. I think that this will enable visitors to further understand and enjoy the singularity of this architecture."
