Faig Ahmed's solo exhibition opening at Cuadro Gallery
'Fluid Forms' in Dubai
For Faig Ahmed's Fluid Forms, his pieces stretch the traditional threads found in his continued reinvention of the conventional Middle-Eastern carpet. The innovative artist uses the most basic component of a deconstructed rug, woolen threads and arabesque motifs, to re-mold our perception of the traditional cultural icon.
The Azerbaijani artist and nominee for Victoria and Albert Museum's Third Jameel Prize, will soon unveil his latest sculpture-like pieces that consist of Azerbaijiani carpets melting into colourful pools of woven wool.
Ahmed's stimulating works include hand-woven rugs encompassed in sculptural forms that break free of its common thread into geometric neon forms.
The artist's solo exhibition – which will run from September 14 to November 30 at Cuadro Gallery – will showcase his signature optical illusions stretching beyond the carpet frame and into a new futuristic form.
