Art Dubai introduces Residents for 2018

Here's what you can expect
Art Dubai is gearing up for a huge 2018 event and has today announced the addition of a new Residents program. Find out what it means below...

We’re just over six weeks away from Art Dubai 2018, and anticipation for this year’s event is already high.

Today, the fair announced that it is introducing a new program called Residents, whereby a selection of international artists are invited to the UAE “to immerse themselves in the local art scene and to create a body of work which merges their distinct artistic practice with their surroundings,” according to a release. Each artist will be paired with a local gallery and will operate out of an open studio to allow visitors to see the works come to life.

The culmination of the program, described as “a unique residency program cum gallery section for international artists”, will see each of the artists’ works displayed at the fair in their respective galleries. Additionally, there will be multiple opportunities for art aficionados to interact with the visitors — coming from India, Georgia, Denmark, Nigeria Japan, Saudi Arabia and the United States amongst other countries —through a series of public events held at in5, Tashkeel (founded by Sheikha Lateefa bint Maktoum who just gave birth to a healthy baby girl) and Warehouse421.

The 2018 edition of Art Dubai marks the fair’s 12th year and it will present 105 galleries from 48 countries during the event. It will be held from March 21-24 at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.
