Ai Weiwei designs political Twitter-inspired wallpaper for new exhibition

'Golden Age' at the Serpentine Gallery in London

Contemporary artist Ai Weiwei's design for London's Serpentine Galleries wallpaper exhibition, entitled 'Golden Age,' has been unveiled in a preview short film. Take a look here...

The sometimes political artist, Ai Weiwei, has designed a wallpaper for London's Serpentine Galleries as part of an upcoming wallpaper exhibition. Weiwei's design entitled Golden Age, has been unveiled in a preview ahead of the exhibition launch.

The contemporary artist, who is still banned form leaving his native China, by the Chinese government, designed a motif in golden tones that shimmer as if textured. On closer inspection the design features surveillance cameras surrounding Twitter's Larry Bird logo, in a likely political statement about government surveillance, which is particularly stringent in China.

Enjoy the preview video above, exhibiting the Golden Age wallpaper and an accompanying dance. The video will also be screened during the exhibitions opening.
