All in the details: Paris Fashion Week AW14 beauty trends
The hair and make-up details you need to know
In our final round up of AW14 trends, we present the beauty looks shown on the catwalks during Paris Fashion Week...
Next season, we hardly need lipstick according to beauty masters including Pat McGrath, Peter Phillips and Diane Kendal. Beige or a colourless transparent shine is all that is needed to achieve an on-trend pout.
On the other hand, vibrant eyeshadows and black kohl are essential products, as AW14 beauty looks were all about emphasised eyes. Chanel showed us cheerful neon arrows, Kenzo served up aquamarine, while Nina Ricci and Chloe displayed violet and purple looks. As well as vibrant hues, there were just as many muted colours, especially grey, which featured at Elie Saab and Valentino. Another noteworthy trend which referenced the 60s and reminded us of Twiggy - the style icon of the era, was thick painted black kohl eyelids, a rock and roll look popular at Saint Laurent, Lanvin and Dries van Noten.
Eyelashes were another key focus for many make-up artists, who either added false additions or used several lashings of mascara to maximise impact.
On the hair front, the trends you need to pay attention to next season include low ponytails, braids, low buns, waves, and smooth styles. Chanel used woven fabric strips to achieve an original look to complement its supermarket sweep set; while Valentino used black elastic bands to create segmented ponytails. Smooth hairstyles with a gentle side parting were shown at John Galliano and Roland Mouret; while loose, wavy styles rocked the catwalks at other shows, enhancing the 60s vibe portrayed heavily this season.
