Celebrating femininity

Jean-Claude Ellena – perfumer of the house of Hermès – shares a new take on the classic Jour D'Hermès fragrance, making the most of all things floral, fragile and feminine

As the third version of Jour D'Hermès arrives to beauty counters in the form of 'Absolu' (after the original and the parfum versions in 2012 and 13 respectively) Jean-Claude Ellena, perfumer of the house of Hermès opens this basic composition with luminous citruses – putting flowers in the first note, rounding it up subtly with a woody-musk signature and dewy greenery. The perfume is presented in a luxurious glass flacon with a thick glass bottom to its bottle.

The presentation of the scent is reminiscent of vintage Hermès bottles, now in a reformed shape.

White flowers, pea blossom and graceful gardenia from the main version are replaced by a new floral bouquet created by Ellena, who wanted to highlight the essence of femininity by leaving gardenia as a creamy-sensual blend of the previously mentioned versions. The aim is to have "flowers and nothing but flowers" in this version, he explains.

The results offer the perfect harmony of creamy white gardenia, fresh and precious sambac jasmine and sweet honey romantic apricot blossom. Femininity in perfume form – a celebration of women in every spritz.
