Milan Fashion Week Beauty: Gucci Spring/Summer 15
Using the house's own line for the first time
Legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath was on hand backstage at Gucci in Milan today to create the looks for the brand's SS15 show. It's an exciting move for both parties, seeing as McGrath was a consultant on the line. For the runway looks a selection of five main colours took precedence: Gold, red, brown, navy blue and copper.
"Today's Gucci girl has a very eclectic and modern style. She likes to dress up. Frida wanted the make-up to reflect that, and so on the one hand, the girls were natural, and on the other – a little play with the colours of the new collection, " she said backstage.
And when it comes to specific directions? "Use a damp brush along the contour of the eyelashes, and on the lower eyelid, and apply a thin line of the golden hue. Then apply Gucci Eye Opulent Mascara only on the upper lashes." And for the models' healthy, radiant skin? McGrath used a tonal base of Lustrous Glow Foundation, some light powder in the form of Face Luxe Finishing Powder and concealer only "where appropriate."
"Frida wanted the girls to look as if they are not made-up, but with a touch of gloss, which is so characteristic of Gucci," she continued. When it came to the manicure she also decided to stick with a proven classic – in absolutely transparent nude, with a dark red hue called 'Very Gucci' on toes.
Hair was kept absolutely minimal: A chic, low ponytail with a zig-zag parting. "Simple but fun." McGrath finished.
