Donald Drawberston partners with Smashbox and Colette
Make-up maestro, 2014's Andy Warhol
Buro 24/7's friend Donald Drawbertson is an artist on the rise. Suffice to say, he was on the rise when we first reported on his talent late last year – now he's at the top of his game. Collaborations with the likes of Carine Roitfeld, regrams from fashion's finest including Net-A-Porter's Natalie Massenet and Buro 24/7's own Mira Duma, everyone knows his name and everyone loves him. It's easy to forget that his day job is a roving creative force at Estée Lauder – surely that's a full enough plate? Not for Donald. Donald likes his plate splashed with paint and gaffa tape, and thank goodness for that.
The latest cooler-than-cool collaboration? Donald has partnered with cosmetics company Smashbox and France's iconic Colette. Why? Well firstly the American artist cum beauty pioneer will be selling his art at Colette, and there for a personal appearance to celebrate at the beginning of October. Scheduled to paint his – now iconic – 'lips' at the 3-day event, Donald thought it would be fun to have a special 'Donald Lipstick' to use. Which brings us to the second, rather fabulous, part of the collaboration – Donald knows people. So while the creative was working with his good friend Davis Factor and his team at Smashbox this summer, naturally he asked them to create a French flag red Smashbox lipstick.
Donald tells us that Colette founder Sarah Andelman is "setting up a 'Colette blue' pingpong table for me to paint on", something to which anyone who follows him on Instagram (and isn't that just about everyone now?) will understand this means the American should feel right at home in Paris.
Donald Drawbertson will be at Colette Paris October 5–7
