Celebrity hairstylist, Oribe Canales, passes away at 62

A true beauty guru
The man behind haircare brand Oribe has sadly passed away overnight and celebrities have started a flood of tributes to the icon...

One of the most respected men in the beauty industry, Oribe Canales, has sadly passed away overnight at age 62.

Before starting his own eponymous haircare label in 2008, the Cuban-born American was the man responsible for creating some of our favourite celebrity hair looks.

With a strong client list that included Jennifer Lopez, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Miley Cyrus, Kate Hudson, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington Burns, his works have graced several magazine covers, films, shoots and even the runway for some of the industry’s biggest brands including Chanel, Versace and Calvin Klein.

Several celebrities shared their sadness with heartfelt posts across social media including Jennifer Lopez (who recently announced that a skincare label is currently in the works) who shared her own memory with the celebrity hairstylist, writing: “He made me love the glam part of things. [Because] he loved it so much and saw it as a powerful tool to empower women. He loved beauty and wanted women to feel beautiful and sexy. He loved the messiness and the imperfection and saw how interesting that was. He was a true artist. He made me feel special and beautiful for so long. I could go on and on but I will just say with a heavy heart… Thank you sweet, beautiful man… I will miss you.”

Now, take a look at why you need to shop for Oribe’s haircare products.
