Of course the Met Gala is all about the dresses, but let's focus in above the décolletage and billowing skirts to study five of last night's key beauty looks

Cat-flick eyeliner, naturally killer cheekbones and beautifully bronzed skin completed actress and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's look as our favourite face on the starry night in New York (pictured above). But who else made the grade? Buro 24/7 selectes the best beauty looks of the Met Gala 2014.

Blake Lively

The face of L'Oreal Paris did not disappoint with a classically beautiful approach to her hair and make-up. Side swept Hollywood waves, a slick of kohl and a simple feminine pink lip balanced her sparkling ensemble to perfection.

Emma Stone

A side-braided up-do and subtle, sparkly, apricot make-up gives The Amazing Spiderman 2 actress a fresh and whimsical look. And her two-piece Thakoon gown gave the rest a run for thier money, too.

Olivia Munn

The actress opted for the sleek approach in both attire and beauty, and we like it. Munn's canary yellow Diane von Furstenberg dress did most of the talking while her super-subtle, sun-kissed yet dewy skin and matte coral lips, plus side parting and hair embellishment added chic elements of interest.

Marion Cotillard

Staying true to her Dior roots, Cotillard looked ever-elegant in a blue laser-cut cocktail length dress by the label, adding dramatic hair and perfectly glossy lips to finish... And a silver shimmer splashed across the eyelids for good measure.
