A global study of world leaders on social media has just revealed that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the ninth most followed world leader on Instagram in 2018.

Burson Cohn and Wolfe ranked all global leaders, and Sheikh Mohammed secured the ninth spot with 3.365 million followers and a 23 per cent increase in followers since 2017. Engagement on his posts was at around 50,000 per post across the past year.

Jordan’s Queen Rania also made the list, coming in at number five on the list, making her the most followed Arab leader on social media with 4.8 million followers.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi came in at number one with 14.8 million followers, followed by Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo with 12.2 million and Donald Trump with 10 million.

Interestingly, the British royal family’s Insta account “almost tripled it followers over the past 12 months in large part thanks to the pictures of the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle,” the report read, adding that the account gained 570,000 followers on the day of the wedding alone.
