Hoorah!
The Saudi Academy Awards Committee just selected this film for the international feature film Oscar...

The presence of Middle Eastern talent strengthens every day and as more personalities are getting their well-earned time in the spotlight, the Arab community (or more specifically, the film industry) have been developing a slew of award-worthy films to highlight the diversity of the region.

For the upcoming 92nd edition of the Oscars, the roster is set to see a slew of regional contenders including Ahmed Fawzi Saleh’s Poisonous Roses, Mohamed Ben Attia’s Dear Son, Maryan Touzani’s Adam and Elia Suleiman’s It Must Be Heaven.

Over the weekend, Saudi Arabia’s Oscar contender has just been announced and of course, Haifaa Al Mansour’s The Perfect Candidate has been selected for the international feature film Oscar.

The movie was nominated at the 76th International Venice Film Festival and now, will be the first Oscar submission from Saudi Arabia after the longstanding ban on cinema was lifted in 2017.

The selection was made by the Saudi Academy Awards Committee and the film highlights female empowerment and individualism. The Perfect Candidate stars Mila Al Zahrani, Nora Al Awardh and Dea Al Hilali.
