David Beckham will join the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their trip to Australia

As a new patron of the Invictus Games
Just when we thought Harry and Meghan's trip to Australia couldn't be more exciting, David Beckham has announced he'll be joining them...

It was confirmed earlier this year that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex‘s first official overseas trip would be to Australia in October for the 2018 Invictus Games and now, it’s been confirmed that they’ll be joined by one of their famous friends.

David Beckham announced on Instagram that he is now and ambassador for the Games which were founded by Prince Harry in 2014 for wounded servicemen, women and veterans alike. He confirmed he will be travelling to Sydney for this year’s event (which will take place from October 20-27), writing, “I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with many serving, veteran and wounded British armed forces personnel over the years and I’ve been humbled by the courage, resilience, and spirit shown by each and every one of them. So, I’m incredibly proud to announce I will be an ambassador for this year’s Invictus Games in Sydney. The entire Invictus Games team, led by the Duke of Sussex, has achieved remarkable things in such a short space of time, using sport as a powerful force to rehabilitate and unite and I can’t wait to be a part of the energy and the excellence of the Games this year.”

David and Harry have been friends for a long time, with David and Victoria both attending the royal wedding earlier this year so this new partnership in the latest step in a very wonderful friendship.

We can’t wait to see the three of them on the sidelines together. And we’re not-so secretly hoping VB might make an appearance, too…
