THE UNITING AND UPLIFTING POWER OF ART

Pisco Jar Project
The COYA brand celebrates its 10-year anniversary by combining culture and art. Here's what you need to know about the innovative Pisco Jar project...

There’s no doubt that the UAE has a rich culture and heritage that reflects traditional Arab values whilst remaining forward-thinking at all times. Whether through architecture, culinary offerings or artistic experiences, the country is a melting pot of cultures and COYA brilliantly united and uplifted the power of art and culture with its latest project, Pisco Jar.

To celebrate its 10-year anniversary since opening its flagship in Mayfair in 2012, all COYA branches across the globe are taking part in a creative art collaboration that honours the legacy of the brand, its Peruvian culture and local artistic talents. They’ve asked 20 eclectic artists to customise and decorate glass Pisco jars in their own distinctive and unique style. The Pisco jars are used for the traditional Peruvian national beverage, and each COYA will proudly display 10 unique and specially designed jars for guests to admire and appreciate.

In Dubai, COYA teamed up with The Caviar Spoon to commission Belfast-born and UAE-based artist Anna McKeown, who used her bright, funky and abstract approach to reimagining the Pisco jar. In addition to McKeown, other artists who contributed to the project include collaging, surrealism and realism artist Ramsha Sh, Abu Dhabi-based artist Moza Almansoori, Egyptian female empowerment artist Farida Abushady, painter Hissa Almansoori and legendary UAE artist Fatima Al Hammadi, who brought her love for calligraphy and fine art to COYA Abu Dhabi.

As COYA turns 10, its birthday was celebrated around the world including its branches in Mayfair, Paris, Mykonos, Monte-Carlo, Doha and Riyadh.

The artists that took part in the project were just some of the region’s up-and-coming names and imaginative creators, respectively. It’s a true testament to COYA’s values in highlighting Peruvian culture with art.

All the finished Pisco jars will be available to view in every COYA branch across the globe while exclusive preview images of each international design, plus previous COYA exhibitions, can be found on the Arts page of the brand’s website.
