Opening soon: Viceroy Palm Jumeirah hotel
Six years after taking over the Yas Viceroy in the UAE capital, the Viceroy Hotels Group is ready to open its first address in Dubai, the Viceroy Palm Jumeirah. Situated at the entrance of the Palm, an iconic landmark of the emirate, the new hotel's stunning aesthetics were conceived by two leading design firms: New-York based Yabu Pushelberg and Japanese company NAO Taniyama and Associates.
Inspired by the grandeur of amphitheatres, Viceroy Palm Jumeirah features two wings, connected by a glass bridge perched high up on the 13th floor. The abundant use of glass throughout the facade – including a record-breaking 15x15 metre glass cube in the lobby – ensures that the whole space is both light and airy, and offers the perfect environment and ambiance for a beachfront holiday. Inside the self-supporting cube are a series of twisting wooden installations, masterfully placed to form a double helix, depicting the DNA of the hotel. The unique design of the hotel also allows for a specially designed 60 metre pool at the heart of the hotel, flanked by palm trees to subtly invite guests to the beach.
Once inside, a host of luxury accommodations await, from beach-view rooms to four-bedroom suites, all created from fine natural materials – think dark wood, marble, handcrafted mosaics, bronze bath tubs – and immaculately finished, complemented by exquisite fabrics. The soothing colour palette facilitates optimal relaxation while the brand's signature teal also features prominently throughout the interiors.
Culinary options at Viceroy Palm Jumeirah include fine brasserie BLVD On One, a patisserie-cum-delicatessen The Delisserie, as well as Italian restaurat Quattro Passi, the first ever Middle East outpost by celebrated chef Antonio Mellino. Then there's The Spa, which offers guests the ultimate in relaxation with a host of amenities including 14 all-white treatment rooms, open air cabanas, a hammam, spa pool and relaxation lounge.
