Aptly named 'Video to GIF', image hosting site Imgur has unviled its high-quality GIF maker. The new tool will let you easily snip clips from streaming videos and then automatically convert them into a GIF file.

The result will be a GIF converted into a .gifv format, opposed to the standard .gif format. The latest .gifv style from Imgur will not be as easy to share as the .gif format, which you would normally be able to add to sites such as Tumblr.

However, while it doesn't offer an array of customisation options and easier uploading, Imgur's new tool is simple and easy to use if you just want to chop out a small part of a video clip, as well providing viewers with better quality viewing.
